Performance metrics
We have included climate-related performance metrics in our disclosures since we began sustainability reporting in 2005. Tracking our emissions profile helps us identify the most cost-effective opportunities to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions intensity, while strengthening the quality and transparency of our reporting.
With oversight from our Board, our executive leadership team continues to advance how we manage and disclose climate and emissions information. Our Scope 1 & 2 GHG emissions dashboards support decision-making and help inform our climate-related performance targets.
Sustainability performance metrics tables
At Ovintiv, we recognize the importance of transparency in sharing our performance. We have a long history of disclosure, having published sustainability metrics since 2005, and are proud of our ongoing achievements in sustainability.
AXPC performance data metrics
We contributed to the American Exploration & Production Council (AXPC) — a national trade association representing the largest independent oil and natural gas producers in the U.S. — in developing their Sustainability Metrics Framework and Template. The framework is designed to complement each member company’s reporting and support voluntary alignment on a set of key upstream environmental and safety metrics.
Targets
To support sustainability progress, we added our goal of reducing Scope 1 & 2 GHG intensity by 50% by 2030, relative to 2019 levels, to Ovintiv’s annual incentive compensation program for all employees beginning in 2022.
Our environmental targets are built into our business performance management system and shared transparently with employees and external stakeholders.
