At Ovintiv, how we operate matters as much as what we produce. Our wet sand operation at J and K Farms in Martin County, Texas, shows how community input can help shape safer, lower-impact outcomes.

Early in the project, a traffic-safety concern near a busy highway was flagged. Ovintiv worked with the landowners and the Texas Department of Transportation to relocate the site entrance, improving visibility and reducing risk for the public and our drivers. The change took more time and investment, but it put safety first—for the public and for our people.

The wet sand process also helped address local traffic and dust concerns. By sourcing sand in closer proximity to active operations, hauling distances and truck traffic were reduced. Handling sand in a damp state also significantly lowers dust generation, creating better conditions for workers on site while helping to minimize off-site impacts.

Just as important: we stayed in touch. Ongoing conversations with landowners helped us address questions quickly, explain decisions clearly and build trust over time. The result is a safer setup for drivers, fewer impacts for neighbors and a more efficient operation for Ovintiv.
