Food Security Sprouts in the Montney

Ovintiv™ recently donated a food relief grant to support 100 households in the Wembley community of our Montney, Alberta, operating area as part of a Healthy Communities food security program.

The grant will be used to teach individuals and families how to cultivate a garden at home by providing backyard gardening projects to grow fresh herbs and produce. The garden project is an innovative and promising strategy to help increase food security for families and individuals.

“The community of Wembley would like to extend a huge thank you to Ovintiv for their generous contribution to our garden program. During these uncertain times, we believe that it is important to keep our community engaged, active and learning new skills. Thanks to Ovintiv support we are now able to provide an opportunity for our community members to enjoy the healthy benefits of growing their own food.” Anna Underwood, Wembley Healthy Communities Initiative.

Ovintiv has pledged $150,000 USD in emergency funding for food banks and food relief charities in communities across its North American operating areas. In the Montney area, the Company has donated to food banks in Sexsmith, Hythe and Beaverlodge and to the Grande Prairie Regional Emergency Partnership.
